Take a look at some dogs in local rescue in the Rehoming a dog is a marvellous thing to do, it can be very rewarding and many happy endings can come from it. Please remember though to take the decision very seriously. Do listen to the advice of the staff at the rescue centres as to the personality of the dog. Let them help you with your choice and make the right one. Being in rescue can be traumatic for dogs but not half as traumatic and confusing as being bounced from home to unsuitable home. So take your time and make the right choice. Visit the dog, take them out for a walk, several times before making your decision, bring your existing dog along to meet the new guy. A good rescue centre will be only too happy for you to do this as they want the dogs to go to forever homes. Seek advice from a reputable trainer or behaviourist when you are considering taking on a new dog, especially if this is your first dog. Don’t wait for problems to occur before addressing them. So many problems can be avoided if you have some advice before you take on a dog. If you think you’ve got what it takes to do the right thing by these or any other dogs in need of your help then go for it. I will be very pleased to hear from anyone seeking advice or with a happy ending to tell. Rescue societies, if you like the look of my website and would like to use it as another place to highlight any of your dogs needing homes, please contact us we would love to help. |
